Currently, e-passport is available in almost all districts of Bangladesh. If you want to apply for an e-passport, there are a few things you must know before applying. If not, small mistakes can lead to big problems later on.

Instructions for Applying e-Passport

1. The e-passport application form can be fill online or if you are unable to do so, you can also download the PDF form and fill the form.

2. No documents are require to be attest in the application. No photograph is required to be attached and attest in the e-passport form.

3. Must fill application form as per National Identity Card (NID) or Online Birth Registration (BRC) certificate. But if there is a dot (.) in any part of the name, see whether to use the dot in the name in the passport application.

4. National Identity Card (NID) or Online Birth Registration (BRC) certificate should be submitted as per the following age-

 

 

 

 

 

Online Birth Registration (BRC) certificate if below 18 years.

National Identity Card (NID) or Online Birth Registration (BRC) certificate if 18-20 years
National Identity Card (NID) is required if above 20 years. However, Online Birth Registration (BRC) certificate will be accept in case of application from Bangladesh Mission abroad.

5. For minors i.e. those below 18 years of age and without National Identity Card. The National Identity Card (NID) number of father or mother must be mention in their application.

6. In case of adoption/guardianship, an order issue by the Department of Security Services. Ministry of Home Affairs should be submit along with the passport application.

7. Submit your application at the concerned Divisional Passport Office, Regional Passport Office or Bangladesh Mission if abroad at your current address.

8. When applying for a new passport from a foreign mission. The contact address of Bangladesh should be mention in the permanent address column.

9. For all applications below 18 years and above 65 years e-passport will be valid for 05 years and 48 pages.

 

 

 

 

 

 

10. In case of government employees, passport validity will be 5 years and normal application.

For Govt Passport or Govt Servant Passport application, GO/NOC/Certificate/PRL Order/Pension Book should be upload/attachment. Which should be upload in the form of notice on the Issuing Authority’s website.

11. If Doctor, Engineer, Driver or any important profession, relevant technical certificates should be upload/attach.

12. Marriage certificate where applicable and talaqnama in case of divorce should be submit.

13. Other charges (if any) including VAT at the prescribed rate shall be payable in addition to the fees applicable to applications within the country. In case of application abroad also the fee prescribed by the government will be payable.

14. For diplomatic passports, applications must be submit to the Consular. Welfare Wing of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Head Office of the Directorate of Immigration and Passports.

15. In case of urgent passport application (new issue) police clearance certificate must be obtain on own initiative and submit along with the application.

  • If police clearance is submit along with the application for emergency passport within the country. The passport will be issue within 2 working days provide all other information is correct.
  • If police clearance is submit along with the application for obtaining an emergency passport within the country. The passport will be issue within 7 working days, subject to all other information being correct.
  • Police clearance is submit along with the application for obtaining a regular passport within the country. The passport will be issue within 15 working days, subject to all other information being correct.

16. Original National Identity Card (NID), Online Birth Registration (BRC) and Technical Certificate. Government Order (GO)/No Objection (NOC) as applicable should be produce/submit at the time of application.

17. Original passport must be produce in case of passport renewal or re-issue.

18. Original GD copy to be produce/submit in case of lost passport.

If the passport is lost or stolen, it should be report to the nearest police station immediately. In case of new passport, application should be submit along with photocopy of old passport, GD copy.

19. In case of application below 06 years of age, passport size photograph (lab print gray background) should be submit.
